The appointment takes the firm\u2019s partnership in Guatemala to seven.<\/p>\n<p>Four out of the office\u2019s seven partners are women. This is higher than the average female partner count at Guatemalan Latin Lawyer 250 \u00a6rms . Latin Lawyer\u2019s latest research shows that on average 30% of partner positions at Guatemalan firms are held by women.<br \/>\nMorales, 47, joined Mayora &amp; Mayora in 2008 after more than four years at the country\u2019s banking regulator. Besides her law practice she owns and directs language education company EASY, which provides English and Spanish classes in Guatemala.<\/p>\n<p>The firm\u2019s managing partner Eduardo Mayora says the banking practice has worked on several important transactions over the past year and needed additional partner level support. \u201cMar\u00eda was critical to us during those transactions,\u201d he says. Mayora says Morales\u2019 experience in-house at Citibank and Lloyds International, as well as at the local banking regulator and in private practice, makes her a valuable asset to the firm.<\/p>\n<p>The promotion comes only a month after Mayora &amp; Mayora expanded its Honduran offering by launching an office in San Pedro Sula and hiring an independent<br \/>\npractitioner as senior associate to run it. The new office is supported by the Tegucigalpa contingent, where the firm has been present since 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The Guatemalan firm also has an office in El Salvador.
